6 Reasons to Write Top Lists

So you might be thinking, “Wait, What?” Why do I need reasons to write Top 10 lists? Or Top anything lists for that matter? Well, it is simple – They get results, drive traffic and increase visitors, conversions and sales. And for any business, an increase in business is good business.

Here are a few simple reasons to not only read Top lists, but also write them for your website or blog. On to the list!

#6 – Top lists are easily picked up – This one is kind of simple, but the impact can not be denied. Top 10 lists are easy to be picked up on the Internet. Sites like Digg.com and Cracked.com love posting and writing Top lists, and people love reading them. They can be reproduced very easily, submitted to many Article Directories and websites, and through this process, will drive traffic to whatever links you choose to put in to them.

#5 – They break up the reader’s day – On a normal work day, if you have a few minutes in between projects or to yourself, reading a Top list is a great way to spend that time. Not only are they easy to read, they are also segmented, so you can take a break and come back to read them later.

#4 – They can be about almost anything – You can write (and read) Top lists on almost any subject imaginable. Interested in the top 4 problems with digital cameras? Got em! Interested in 7 Awesome Acts of Nature? They are there too! For every passing thought there is a Top list, or a reason to write one!

Top Lists!

#3 – Writing them brings in the reader – When someone reads a Top list, they like to share what they read with others. “Say did you know that this happened here, and that happened there?” That will drive people to go read the same list and check out what crazy things this person was talking about. And for the blog writers and content generators, they like to republish and reprint these articles on their sites (go ahead, you have my permission to reproduce this article). As the list becomes filtered around the Internet, invariably you will pick up traffic from all sorts of sources, even some you didn’t know existed!

#2 – Reading them can expand your knowledge – A great website – Cracked.com, while it is a humorous take on things happening in our world – has made themselves known by publishing Top lists daily. After reading some of them, you start to get a sense of wonder at the weird and crazy things that happen in our world. It makes me want to expand my knowledge of some of those subjects, and I pursue it.

#1 – As with anything, they have their place on the Internet – Amidst all the Used Laptop Parts e-Commerce stores, the article writers, the adult entertainment business, and the music freaks, are places for all Top lists to go and reside. With an estimated 225,950,957 Domain Names (not web pages) registered in August of 2009, there is a little bit of something for just about everyone.
